I started my travel career in August 1996 as a receptionist. In March 1997 I became a junior consultant and started regional bookings from June 1998. I moved to Durban from Johannesburg in May 2003 and started as a senior consultant with Grindrod Travel. In Aug 2006 I was promoted to Branch Manager of the Durban office.
Travel has changed and evolved considerably since I started – service is vitally important as well as staff/client relationships. If a client trusts you it makes your working relationship that much stronger. You need to be proactive and use your initiative – DO NOT be a message taker!
